May Challenge

I can't believe I nearing the end of this challenge!  It has been super fun and I am glad I decided to participate.  It has also forced me to blog more in the midst of a crazy month so for that I am very thankful.

Day 23.......Thursday: Things you've learned that school won't teach you:

- How important hands on work experience is.  You can sit in a classroom all day but until you have gone out into the working world you really don't have a good understanding of how the real world works.  That experience is priceless.

- Time management skills.  Schools "recommend" working on this but until you are juggling 5 different things that aren't related you don't really understand what this is. Just managing 5 classes is not the same.  They all revolve around one institution.  Managing unrelated items is where it really gets fun tough.

- Loyalty and trust are crucial to relationships. Trust is a building block of any relationship you have in life.  Whether it's with your boss or your best friend trust can make or break a relationship.

- Living on your own is one of the best things you can do for yourself.  I am a big proponent of this but I am also a pretty independent person.  I think taking risks, moving somewhere you know no one and living on your own will teach you some incredible life lessons.

- Staying up to date with technology will take you far in your career.  When you are my age (in your 20's and 30's) it is definitely something that every employer is looking for.  The crucial step though is staying that way.  It adds and element of job security when you don't fall behind the curve of technology and you can keep up with the next generation.
